Residents with income below the poverty level in 2009:
Clarksburg: 23.5%
Whole state: 23.3%
Residents with income below 50% of the poverty level in 2009:
Clarksburg: 9.6%
Whole state: 7.6%
Being worse than the WV state average poverty level is NOT something to brag about.
I see you are not familiar with WV geography. Clarksburg is a small part of NCWV.
Now do you need me to explain why one city can't represent a region. For instance if I used Huntington to represent all of SWV it would falsely lead people to think the poverty rate was 20% for SWV.
You made what is known as a fallacy. If you dont understand your error in logic i cab eloborate.

You "i cab" if you want to - only pointing out that the glorious economic outlook pointed out in the Clarksburg paper kinda overlooks issues in that city - - I didn't post the link, I just looked up Clarksburg's socioeconomic health.

But Clarksburg is a major part of NCWV, is it not? You do realize that all papers around the state annually print these chest-thumping articles on how great the economic outlook is in their area, don't you?
And as for all your "stats", I live in a planned community of approximately 12,000 in population, about half the Morgantown population. I would guess that unemployment is approx 1%, average household income is probably 100K, and crime is non-existent. I guess if our community decided to incorporate, it would blow away any city in America. But, that's not how it's done. In actuality, Morgantown, counting it's 30,000 unemployed students, has the highest unemployment rate, by far, of any city in WV - take that stat and smoke it - - include students again in your stats

That is absolutely false. I don't suppose you noticed that your data is from 4 years ago during the economic downturn that was blamed on the previous 7 years of relative prosperity? Clarksburg has added hundreds of high paying jobs in the past 4 years due to major expansions at the FBI Center there. This report references prospects for the upcoming years. They are bright for Clarksburg (projected to grow) and even brighter for other parts of our region. Where is it you live? We have a fellow poster here from Tobacco Road who also lives in a prosperous Nirvana.
