My son has a drs appointment next month. I Thinking about taking him my self. Appointment is at 10 am. So if I take him what can we see or do after? Keep in mind both of us are handicapped he uses a walker... I use a Mobility Scooter.
I'm assuming that you will be here for the afternoon only. I suggest you go to the Visitors Center in the Wharf District and get the audio tour, which will give you a guided tour of the downtown area from a historic perspective. That area is disabled friendly in terms of sidewalks and the like.
The campus of The University is fully accessable by automobile and is well worth seeing.
You might also drive out to Coopers Rock State Forest. I believe your son could get out to the overlook area with a walker, although there might be a problem getting a motorized scooter out to the overlook itself since some of the trail is somewhat primitive.
I assume you are aware that area is very hilly. My grandfather is from Fairmont, and I doubt the terrain has changed much! I wish you a great outing, but do consider it might be frustrating!

That is true, although High Street (the main downtown street) is pretty level as is the core part of the downtown campus. You could also drive around the area fairly easily in the summer months.
