WVU Dentistry is partnering with CRET for an Innovation Center here. This was on thread back in December but I wanted to bring up again as they are having an open house for their grand opening this Thursday 9/21/17 at noon at the STC. https://calendar.wvu.edu/site/school...list2&search=y
We are one of only three Innovation Centers in the US and Canada. What is nice is this isn't limited to WVU, all state dentists will have access to the center. Info here News (the DP had an article Sat but didn't give much info) The Dominion Post - WVU School of Dentistry opens Innovation Center
The Dean of the Dentistry School was on WAJR this morning and it is podcasted here. Full Service 1440 WAJR - Play Now (10 minutes in - 27)
Very interesting interview. Among other things, he stated that $5 million in pro bono care is given out in WV. He also made a connection with the state's unemployment and resident's chronic dental problems. He said many are reluctant to go to job interviews due to poor teeth. Some cannot even speak correctly due to problems. I never thought of this but he has a good point.
I knew about the local doctor who was seemingly in the band forever until he finally retired a year or two ago, always taking classes so he would qualify to be a member, but I didn't know about this young lady.
"According to WVU, Rezai will lead a newly expanded West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, where he will work to develop new treatments for neurological and psychiatric conditions."
"And he's brought in millions of dollars in research funding to Ohio State, too."
"Rezai has authored 220 scientific publications and serves on the editorial board of five scientific journals. He is a past president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, as well as the past president of the North American Neuromodulation Society and the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery."

This will raise the profile of WVU's #6 ranked in the country academic medical program even higher. Medicine at The University has developed a momentum all it's own.
