"FAIRMONT —West Virginia’s first orbiting satellite —the STF1 CubeSat —marked its 145th day in space Friday. And the pioneering simulation
software that is keeping it up there in pristine working condition —called NOS3 —has been nominated of NASA ’s prestigious 2019 Software of the Year award. STF-1 —Simulation to Flight 1 —is busy gathering data for four WVU research projects, and snapping pictures for publicity and general awe-inspiration." …
This satellite, developed at NASA in Fairmont by WVU engineers, is currently supporting 4 different extensive research projects at WVU. It is expected to be in orbit for many years.
WVU robotics team on top again, wins second NASA competition in 3 years
“Persistence, combined with a bit of a gambling spirit, carried West Virginia University’s robotic drilling team to another first place finish Thursday (June 6) in NASA’s Moon to Mars Ice & Prospecting Challenge, the team’s second top finish in three years.”
“It wasn’t certain until the very end that WVU’s Mountaineer Ice Drilling Automated System III, led by Powsiri Klinkhachorn, was going to pull out the victory over teams from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology, Virginia Tech or Northeastern University, the 2018 winner.”
The University has a few new bids out this week, including an assessment of WVU's portfolio of properties and opportunities for better management, use, or repurposing of properties; Phase III & IV of the Puskar Center renovations and expansion (locker rooms, offices, training facilities, and a new Hall of Traditions); and a couple for the renovation of Hodges Hall.

The unused Fieldcrest Hall could temporarily be rented out to out of town workers and used to generate revenue, instead of just sitting there waiting for an alternative use for the property.
