And, this only counts the "permanent" residents. It does not account for 25,000 of the students living here, or the 2,000 or so oil and gas transients that will be hanging out here for the next several years. As of now, there are around 130,000 living in an area about 1/3 the size geographically as Kanawha for a population density that is more than twice that of Kanawha County.
CT - You might know this: are city and county populations separate in WV? For instance, is Mon county's population of 102K inclusive of Morgantown's? If so, I miscalculated my figures.
A county's numbers would include people from that county, including those living in cities within that county, except for people living there who are not "permanent residents". Those people do not show up in the Federal statistics, and typically are carried as residents elsewhere even though they are actually spending most of their time in a particular area, such as college students who are not commuters and construction or oil and gas workers who are on long term assignment but who maintain residences elsewhere.
