So wait, just so I'm clear here... when US News & World Report ranks us highly, it's a good source? Because I've been telling my colleagues for years about what a crock it is when we stagnate in the rankings every year and schools that were previously behind us (cough...cough... Louisville) start leapfrogging us.

Regardless of the validity of US News (and I believe their rankings overall are meaningless), in this case they rank WVU among the top. The Engineering school is a top flight school too, as is the Business school in numerous rankings. It deserves mentioning in any case. Louisville "leapfrogging" us by a couple spots last year had to do with one of their alums throwing some money at hiring a few new faculty members. In reality, nothing substantial changed. It could jump up 100 slots and it would still be a crappy place to go to school. The school is located in the city's slum district.
