A beautiful new, state of the art Readiness facility has opened at the Morgantown Airport for the National Guard and the Morgantown community. This place is a palace. It's really nice and all, but in all sincerity I have to question spending this money. The government is trying to limit military pay raises, tax retirement benefits, punish disabled veterans by limiting their pensions. They can't even afford to fix our highways, but they can build something like this and give billions away in foreign aid?

They are claiming the old one was inadequate for community use. I remember attending a dance in that facility in 1964 with the Lionel Hampton Band performing the music. The place wasn't fancy, but it was perfectly adequate for the purpose. With this new facility, the only thing remaining is to find quarters for the Palace Guard. ...

I like the ceiling in that hallway. but it doesn't match the rest of the hallway.

I agree CT, our Federal Gov. is cutting military spending like there is no tomorrow on the backs of the troops, and yet they feel it necessary to build "readiness centers" aka glorified community centers with a few gun lockers! I do think we need the best for our military, but we need to be preparing for our enemies (which are wanting a fight) rather than hamming up things.

With that being said, it is a nice facility that will benefit the community!

Yep.

As a side note, the old armory just sold at auction for $3.7 million.

It was bought by some LLC out of Harrison County, so Sheetz will either have to purchase or lease from them.

That is prime property, right at the confluence of 705 and Mileground. Whatever they put in there is sure to be a winner.
