Hi, we are considering a move to Morgantown. My children would be attending high school there. They are strong in academics and the arts. Do any of the area high schools offer SNAP and IB programs. Do they have a good strong selection of AP courses in Math, Science, English and History? And lastly band, piano and chorus etc?
MHS has more AP courses than UHS and upper level students can take wvu classes on campus....ranked in top 5% of HS in nation. MHS band has participated in both Macy's and Rose parades in past 4-5 yrs. WVU also has a community music program that is very reasonably priced. MHS does have chorus.
This is a city with a large national university. As a result, there are students at Morgantown High School who speak dozens of languages. The school has produced more than one Rhodes Scholar. It is a top flight high school.
The creative arts department at West Virginia University is great. Not only is music strong at MHS, ... there are people in Morgantown with a wide variety of talents in music and the arts.
Thank you reesch and CTMountaineer. This really makes a future move more enticing. Thankfully we have a full year to decide, but the more I research the area, the more I like what I'm seeing and hearing.

We have a small city here that is ranked highly in national rankings as a desirable place to live and work. It has a rare combination of attributes... strong economy, good educational offerings, public safety, wonderful arts offerings, and closeness to outstanding outdoor amenities, that make a decision to move here a very good one.
