The WVU Foundation came within $500,000 of meeting it's fund raising goal for the most recent fiscal year in spite of the slump in the national economy.

WVU Foundation raises $85M

From the Dominion Post:

"The WVU Foundation raised nearly $86 million last year, a figure just below its goal and down $13 million from the previous year.

During the 2014 fiscal year, which ended June 30, the Foundation raised $85.7 million in cash and in-kind donations.

WVU Foundation President and CEO Cindi Roth said the amount raised was $500,000 off the goal for the year. Last fiscal year, the foundation raised about $99 million.

Roth said she didn’t have a direct answer for the difference between the amount raised and the goal. But, she said, sometimes it’s a timing issue, such as paperwork might not be signed until just days after the fiscal year ends.

Despite the drop, the year produced the fifth-highest total in the Foundation’s history.

Those donation numbers are part of the overall “A State of Minds” capital campaign for the university. Roth said the effort has been going well.

The next official campaign update is scheduled for September. During the last update, the university had raised $736 million of its $750 million goal. The campaign ends in December 2015."
