It amazes me how horrible the DP is about getting facts correct or doing ANY research. The Emergency Department of WVUH is NOT being moved or housed in the new Southeast tower. It will be where it has always been but rennovated and remodled. The new tower will, however, house the new entrance for the WVUH Children's hospital. While the tower will house other speciality and accute care beds, the new entrance will be specifically for the children's hospital, Maternal and Infance Care Center and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Floor 1: Bruce McClymonds Conference Center
•Floor 2: Employee services
•Floors 3 and 5: Adult critical care
•Floor 4: Expansion of Ruby Cafeteria, Environmental Services and Materials Handling, as well as space for mechanical and building support
•Floors 6: WVU Children’s Hospital
•Floors 7-9: Adult acute care
•Floor 10: Shell space

Thanks for the clarification. I think the DP (not that I enjoy defending it) assumed the Emergency Department was to be housed there as the original renderings showed it being relocated there. When I first saw the Children's Hospital new entrance, it hadn't crossed my mind that it replaced where the ER would have gone.
My hunch is the "shell space" on the 10th. floor is vacant space used for storage and potential expansion. I believe their current "Certificate of Need" was limited to the other floors due to complaints from Mon General, so they would have to file for another one to put beds there.

Ruby is already a world class facility, and these additions will enable continued growth and improvements for the hospital. As a retiree, I feel very fortunate to live in a city that has this sort of healthcare available. My supposition is that that 10th. floor will provide the opportunity to expand further if the opportunity presents itself without major additional expenditures.
Our small state is blessed to have such a wonderful anchor healthcare facility located in it. There are other small states that do not have these amenities.
