Did the tower on Beechurst fall through? There is a sign where the Shell used to be that says the site is for lease/sale? I was looking forward to getting rid of Vic's

Yes, Biafora and Guiliani successfully scared away the developer and dropped the plans.
They didn't need the lawyers this time. Apparently had enough clout with one of the city's boards to get unrealistic conditions put in place for the project. It is such a shame because that would have been a huge improvement for that location and would have resulted in more people living downtown too.
We probably have the only city in our state where people actually work against developments, but many of them happen anyway. Unfortunately, this was not one of them.

And now we are stuck with another vacant lot due to much money being wanted for it and only way it would be feasible is to get the other properties and build a large project. Vic junk yard along with a run down building and vacant lot just looks fantastic right in town.
The new "Research Park Shops", diagonally across from suncrest town center, will include a new (to the area) sub company called Penn Station - East Coast Subs. Has anyone ever eaten at one?

There are Penn Stations in at least the Parkersburg, Charleston, and Huntington areas. There might be one in Bridgeport now. They aren't anything too special, but I love them. They're a great alternative to the Subways, Jimmy Johns, etc. of the world.

Very interesting, looking at their menu they remind me more of a Jerry's Sub (Hot Subs) than a Jimmy Johns. More variety the better though, especially with it being so close to the hospital and the research park (once that gets built up).
Looks like the closest ones are Parkersburg and Washington, PA.
I love them. they have a great Philly sandwich. we eat at them when we are in Charleston. its good to have a couple choices in sandwich shops and i.m glad we are getting one.

Their subs are average. Their fries are fantastic though
