Beach supports passage of the governor’s proposal, raising the gasoline tax, increasing DMV fees, and hiking tolls, and said will allow West Virginia to focus the money it already has on maintaining roads instead of splitting it with the cost of new construction.
That benefits the West Virginians that the TRIP report says are already paying extra as a result of poor road conditions, Beach said.
“My perspective is if we get this package, the Governor’s proposal package, passed in its entirety, that allows us to take the fund that we have in place now that we’re trying to do everything with, trying to build new roads and repair them and just general maintenance, that allows us to take that entire fund and focus on the little county routes that we have across the state, and we have a lot of them, 36,0000 miles of them,” he said.

If Beach is for something, it is highly unlikely the bottom line benefits Mon County, that's for sure. That $1.4 billion will mostly be spent for roads quite literally to nowhere.

What are the odds of cleaning up Saberton and creating a expressway through South Park? Turn Brockway Ave into a one lane going towards downtown and make Pleasants/Cobun one way towards Saberton.

I thought with Freedom Ford closing in Sabraton there would be some opening there, but according to Sunday's Paper they are planning a Volkswagen dealership in that space.

There is not much but blight on that stretch anyway. That large "hogback turn" is of course an issue. Sabraton has an interstate exit. It would be nice to have a better way into downtown from there.

Freedom Kia’s new space at University Town Centre opens March 13. And plans are in the works for a new Volkswagen dealership at the former Freedom Ford Lincoln space in Sabraton.

Unless plans have changed all three dealerships (Ford, KIA, and VW) were supposed to be at the UTC. Maybe they are temporarily using Sabraton until the VW dealership gets built.

That is likely true. The Freedom dealerships are owned by a guy from Uniontown, and it is my understanding the VW dealership will be owned by the same guy. They rent the Earl L. Core location from the Horton family that used to own the Morgantown Ford dealership, so there is probably time remaining on the lease that they will use for the VW dealership while they develop and build the new one at UTC.

Personally, I'd be surprised if the Raeses don't eventually end up buying the Sabraton property.

I had heard that the Ford Quick Lane was supposed to move from Greenbag Road to the former Freedom Ford site.

West Run Road from Copper Beech to US 119 looks like Berlin city streets circa 1945.

Was at the Ford dealership today. They are building the VW dealership at the UTC and it's planned on being completed in August. They are using the old ford location til then.

I don't believe that is true. However, it is possible. That business is owned by the same people who own the dealerships, as is the car and pet wash across the street.
