That sounds absolutely pointless.

What should have been done was a regional airport in the Fairmont area. The regional airport in the Hurricane area was killed by politics. If the state was smart, it would have been done in both places and we would have 2 nice moderately-sized airports in the state

The talk about flights to Charleston was brought up in the same breath that it would help when the legislature was in session. We will see if it ever happens though.

Regarding a regional airport, there is some talk about scrapping the airports down there and taking a part of the Hobbet Mine and build a large airport, because we already don't waste enough tax payer money or anything.

According to their website, you can fly to Orlando, Dulles, and Myrtle Beach (seasonal) from Clarksburg. The flight to Dulles sometimes connects through Morgantown and/or Parkersburg I think. Never heard anything about flying to/from Charlotte or Columbus commercially out of Clarksburg.

Yeah, I don't see Charlotte or Columbus listed but I thought I had seen that someplace. I wish they would institute a flight to the North Gulf Coast... Pensacola, Mobile, or Biloxi. Those locations have the nicest beaches in the world and they aren't over run by tourists like the East Coast beaches. They also don't have the nasty sand fleas.

In October/Novemberish when their new EAS Contract would begin, Clarkaburg will drop flights to Dulles and add flights to Charlotte and BWI. Morgantown and Clarkaburg will have different destinations, 4 total between the two airports.

With the collaboration between WVU and Ohio State in energy research, I'm surprised something isn't going between NCWV and Columbus somewhere.

That's true. There is tremendous private activity taking place at the airport and I've heard a lot of it is related to the research activities.
