In a historic accomplishment, with 320 teams in Division 1 women's college soccer, the #1 Mountaineers beat #5 Duke today to advance to the College Cup... the equivalent of the Final 4 of the Sport.
The brackets are set for the Semi Finals. It is West Virginia vs. North Carolina Dec. 2nd. at 5PM. Also a slight correction to the post above. There are 333 Division 1 Women's Soccer teams.
they need a men's track and cross country program but would have to add another 2 woman's sport to stay in compliance. the states flagship university should cover all major sports.
Right now the focus is on insuring top flight facilities for all sports. They are spending millions of the athletic revenue upgrading facilities, and partnering with local governments to built others. Once they get the facilities to where they want them, I believe they will restore the track program for men and add softball for women.
Great win for the lady Mountaineers!!! 1-0 over UNC. Now they will play for the national championship against South Carolina at 6:00 pm Sunday on ESPNU
