We're looking for a quality school for our daughter, but have a limited budget. We've been researching carefully, and found West Virginia has economical tuition levels. She wants to be educated in the North, so we've kept that in mind during our search. She wants to study pre med, but also wants to be near a larger city for cultural amenities on weekends. Of the places we are exploring, Morgantown and West Virginia University stand out for us.

The reasons for that are the relatively safe environment there, closeness to outdoor activities and assets, comparatively low expenses, proximity to Pittsburgh, an academic reputation among the top few hundred in the country among thousands of schools, and good name recognition and alumni support, which in part explains why PayScale.com indicates their graduates are high earners compared with others. Since she is going for a science intensive field, this also caught our eye.

She is applying, and we are looking forward to our first visit. The only negative for us is it is a pretty good hike from Pensacola. But, it's actually closer than most other northern schools.

I have a student at WVU, and we are also from out of state. My son is very happy there. You may want to see if there are any Facebook groups for Florida parents who have students at WVU; I know there are a lot of such groups for parents in other areas and they can be really helpful with information like arranging transportation during breaks.
