I used to think gift cards were the greatest thing - until I discovered that with many of them they lose value over time or completely expire. Doesn't that sound illegal esp since no one tells you that when you buy them.

Quote:
"I got so annoyed at my family arguing over christmas one year I shopped at toys r us. I included in my christmas cards the list of toys that were donated to toys for tots in their names. Dropped everything in their respective bins at the post office and turned off the phone. Ho Ho Ho."
Love it. I had a bratty teen niece who complained about her gift from us (that I had put a lot of thought and money into) a couple years running so the following year I got her a US Savings Bond. Even if she hated the gifts she could have returned them but I just just stunned that she acted so whiney and rude after opening our gifts to her.

Those visa gift cards are a joke. They charge a fee every time the card is swiped so it all gets gobbled up on nonsense processing fees. I don't even know if they make them anymore because it got such horrible press.

Amazon has a 1 yr expiration date last I checked.

Christmas is my favorite holiday if only it weren't so commercialized. One thing I can always count on- the doggies in the family are always grateful for the bone in the gift bag.
