I'd probably be able to pay about 1000.00 a month in rent. Unfortunately I have a small Oldsmobile, Alero so that could be a problem commuting to and from McHenry in the winter from Morgantown or Cheat Lake. Would 1000 a month be enough around Cheat Lake or Mchenry? there doesn't seem to be much rental properties there.

There are a lot of Mennonites and the like in Garrett County. Many properties for rent thereabouts might not be on craigslist. Dress conservatively, stop at the Hill Top Fruit Market in Grantsville and ask folks.

Dude...didn't they tell you that you are in the heart of Amish Country? Partying and socializing are in the form of 'barn raisn's...yeeaah! ha ha Grantsville? Frostburg... You might find a rental on Bittinger Road...

If you can pay $1000, invest in a property and buy it for the time you will be here.

Top of the Hill Market will spot you in a New York Minute.

Rental: no pets...no phone...no electricity...this is getting good!

Garrett is literally like Little Germany. It is beautiful there, and neat as a pin.
It will make you fit in a little better if you have a slight German accent (just kidding).

I think $1,000 per month would get you a nice apartment in any of those areas, but
not necessarily a townhouse in Cheat (right Kennedy?).

I am from Keyser originally, have you thought about Westernport? It's near Frostburg, but not as expensive. Oakland has some nice attributes also. Cumberland/ LaVale will be a bit pricier than the others, closer to the cost of living at Mo-Town.

I'd def. take a look at some of those smaller towns, they have appeal too, but are still in a close proximity to the larger ones.

Have you called or talked to any property managers in the McHenry area? Especially the outskirts.. You may luck out and find a small duplex somewhere outside of the 'resort zone' that would be affordable.

I would definately start calling property managers, pick up the local rag, maybe even put an ad in the paper yourself, advertising what you want.

I think commuting to McHenry from Cheat Lake or Cumberland would be just painful myself. But- Cumberland would get you a CHEAP place to live for sure.

Big thing about Cumberland is the Am-trac station...cheap ride to DC and New York City.
Who would want to drive it when you can sober-up on the train...lots possibilities in Cumberland.

Hmm, what's that smell? Can't scratch and sniff yet on the Internet. NewPage, North America's largest producer of coated papers for magazines, catalogs, direct mail...
