I have season tickets at the Coliseum. A great side story to watch is observing the Turkish player, Deniz Kilicli on the bench. Unfortunately, the kid can't play until February, but its fun to watch him take in a game. He literally looks like his life is in the balance based upon the outcome of any and every offensive possession. As the Mountaineers dribble the ball around, he always has his hands up to his face, looking with a mixture of terror, intrigue, and anticipation. And if/when the Mountaineers score, he usually does this great, sudden double-fisted pump thing with a look of utter exuberance on his face.
If he's not into the game, I'm not sure who is.
I know a few people who work in the Coliseum. They say there are several days in practice where he is by far the best player on the court. He can just post up and score on any one of the good defenders WVU has as if he's barely even trying.
I like the kid though. I think he will be my favorite player when he starts playing. I like Kevin Jones, too. He's the only player that seems to consistently play with any semblance of intelligence.
Huggy says Deniz is the best player on the team, and
that's saying something considering the overall talent
level.
