I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this. I'm wondering if I have any recourse in this situation.
In December '09 I closed on a house. During my loan application, the lender asked my employer the chances I would stay employed with them. Employer answered excellent. So I was approved for the loan. Well 2 months later my employer lets me go, the reason being the economy. The kicker is that recently I saw an email that the boss wrote to my supervisor back in October '09 saying I would be let go in the next year.
So they knew I would be let go but yet they still write excellent so I received a loan I should never had. Any thoughts on this?

Hmm, so would it have been better if the boss told lender that you were on the way out? That would have killed your deal and probably gotten looking for a job a little sooner, maybe leaving the former employer in the lurch...

Or maybe the boss should have canned you sooner?

Have since gone broke, gotten foreclosed and been unable to find work?

Did go broke, was a month away from not being able to make a mortgage payment. Luckily did find a job in another state so I'm still able to make the payments. Just a real pain in the neck that I have to take care of this house and living somewhere else. I'm very thankful that I found this new job but it just makes me mad these circumstances occurred.

Yeah the situation does stink, but if you were able to find a new job in the same area I'm sure you wouldn't have had as much of a problem. This is often why employers refuse to complete the "probability of continued employment" section on verification of employment forms, they don't want the liability. Glad it worked out for you, perhaps you could sell?

Well, we're a litigious society. You may want to try a couple of the legal forums. Findlaw.com is one.

The VOEs and the employers never meet again after the form is completed.

One thing I recall from a somewhat similar situation I was in, suing was not a great option as I had not suffered any great hardships. I had to prove there was deliberate intent to hurt me.
