I'm trying to find a good book to familiarize myself with all the mortgage lingo. I do not know much as it stands right now. I'm just looking for a book to explain everything including the basics. So far the one I'm leaning towards is Mortgages 101 by David Reed. It received all good reviews on the site I was looking.

Any other suggestions?

Z-Master -

Wrote loans for 8 years, the last three years been dissecting loans. Trying to learn everything you can about mortgages is impossible - the more information you seek, the more information will bog you down. The amount of time I have been involved in mortgages, still learn new things.

Word of advice, learn the simple terms like LTV, DTI, and learn how the manipulate your credit score so it is high. That's how you get a good loan.

Yea.. are you trying to learn the terms, calculations, etc? Or the actual practice. Because mortgages isnt something you learn from a book.. and it changes (especially in this market) all the time.

Just meant learning the terms for preparing myself to own a home someday. I read the book I mentioned in the original post and it was a great book.

Go into any book store and go to the home buying section. There are a lot of books - but "Dummies" series puts one out that is good.
