But I still think it is a best forum to ask, since I think it is more related to mortgage application process details.

My rate has been locked, does the lender need to check my credit reports again during the mortgage process?

I would like to apply for two good reward credit cards, for example, Chase Ultimate Rewards offers great reward too:
......after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening - that's $500 towards airfare or hotels when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards

There are more similar credit cards, and I will need to spend quite some money from now on, buying this buying that .... so I would like to know if applying for credit card bothers the mortgage application process.

Thanks.

Don't be dumb. Wait until AFTER closing.

And check out the Capital One card. The reward points are better than the Chase Ultimate Rewards. (Though I admit, customer service was better with Chase.)

I've also flagged this for a moderator to move it to the mortgage board.

Okay, to be safe, then I will wait. My current credit score is well above 770 ....

I have well taken care of my credit score during the past few years, now after closing I can apply for any credit cards, just apply for it, then get the reward, then close it, then apply for another one.

No need to apply for any loans in the near future.

Right. Wait. Just getting another card...just having anyone else checking your credit report now can ding your rating. Don't buy anything big. Hope you don't need a major car repair, etc. if you want to keep that top rating. (Of course, you have to do what you have to do.) And some do do another check shortly before closing.

Most lenders run a credit check before funding the loan at close of escrow. You need to wait.

Not so smart. You're better off just getting one good rewards card and using it for everything - we autopay anything we can on the Capital One card, every month. You'd be amazed at how that 1.5% CASH REWARDS adds up. And personally, I'll take cash instead of hotel rooms or miles any day!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no . . .

Did I saw "No"?

NO.

A few weeks isn't going to make any difference to your rewards.
