OP, you really need to stop with the fantasy revenge against your HOA. This is not just a matter of someone not wanting to admit their mistake, there are records than can not be disputed but it sounds like you haven't found them yet. Before getting into a tizzy about your HOA try working with the bank to find out where the money actually is. Banks do make mistakes.

You chose an HOA so learn to get along even if there are bumps long the way. Playing games is only going to earn you a bad reputation with the neighbors.

Agree, don't do the christmas lights thing, that is not going to scare them. They will happily send you a bill for a fine.
Get all your communication saved. Get all the evidence and talk to a lawyer. I am sure they will do the needful. Sometimes a letter from the lawyer is enough for them to wake up, if not have the lawyer file a law suit and do as the above comment states.

If you pushed the funds to them, the burden is still on you to pay what is owed and dispute the payment through your bank. Your bank will need to investigate and trace the funds. Only after the trace absolutely shows they received and collected the funds would it be considered paid. SO, exactly what proof did your bank as ODFI provide showing the HOA's RDFI did in in fact receive the funds?

Agreed.

Forget the childish Xmas lights games and handle this responsibly. Be a little proactive here vs waiting for them to sue you in court and follow this posters advice.
