Does anyone know how it is possible that a person can get 2 or 3 lis pendens in a short time period? And why after almost a year of getting a lis pendens some one gets a second lis pendens?

If a collection company sees that you're trying to sell your home they will try to put a lien on your house before you sell or refinance it.

Someone evidently feels they have an interest in the property and want that recorded in case it goes into foreclosure or is otherwise sold.

Actually - I have seen a relative do this when owed money . . . so it doesn't have to be a lending company . . .

Both were filed by mortgage companies. One home also has a HOA lien on the home. But why does a mortgage company files 2 or even 3 times for a lis pendens within 2 months and the first one was 6 month previous of the first one.
The other home had a lis pendens filed close to a year after the first lis pendens. In both cases it is the same mortgage company filing for the lis pendens. That is why I'm asking if any one knows why? Thanks for the help so far.

Did you follow up to find if there have been lawsuits filed after each of the lis pendens were attached???

Only in one case. But in between the first and the second lis pendens, nothing than a lawsuit and another lis pendens, so that is a little bit more understandable.

The other just has a first and a second lis pendens without anything else listed in the public records, both by the mortgage company. No HOA lien, but this person didn't pay any property taxes for 2007. Still shows as not paid.

Would any of the circumstances surrounding the property suggest that there could be a lawsuit filed in another county or another state? For ex., a second home . . . ?
