I've been pretending I had the house payment and putting the difference aside, I can't believe I didn't think to do the same with the car. Probably b/c I am rediculously upset over the entire situation, my car may not have been new but I loved her and I miss her!
Amazing how we get attached to our vehicles. I had a p/u truck for 10 years. Ran great and always got me where I needed to go. I'd still have it if I hadn't gotten rear ended. Same situation as you - it was totaled and was I ever upset!
