I'm closing on a house on 2/13. I hope it applies to me. Reading the bill posted by someone else it states that it would apply to homes purchased after 12/31/08. But I have also heard it will apply to anyone buying a home after the bill is enacted.
Exactly. Or, how would you like to closeout one day before the new bill is enacted? That would suck... They need to backdate the new bill back to when the old bill started. Doing so would help stimulate the economy and not upset buyers that bought in 2008.
Disagree. Can't start making everything retro...
Ideally they would lose the $15k bill & $7500 bill all together.
I don't care what they do as long as I get my $7500 from purchasing in 5/08. Although it would be nicer to have an additional $7500 to put into the economy
i called isaksons office, the people up there say that if you buy a house today (or any day before the bill passes) you are not eligible for the $15,000

Understood..they should at least make the 7500 a true credit then and not have to be paid back if they are going to give out that much $$$
