Is it possible to purchase the home in NC, but do all the closing in NY?
Thanks in advance

What do you mean "all the closing"?

The technical closing has to happen where ever the title can be recorded. That said everything can be done through proxies without the physical presence of either buyers or sellers in NC.

Of course this would be a really bad idea if there are any issues that are not anticipated and planned for, but I would guess about 20% or so of closings are done through representation. Typically a lawyer will draw up everything but I think most states have provisions for things to be notarized or faxed or otherwise done across distance...

This is a mail away closing which we do somewhat regularly here in NC. Everything is prepared as normal but instead of you going to attorney's office to sign documents they are overnighted to you. You bring them to a notary, sign, and overnight back.

I have a local client who is closing a refinance next week but will be at the beach so instead of messing with their planned vacation they are doing this because a good rate was available to lock this week we are overnighting the documents to them at the beach.

It is absolutely possible. the title company can overnight the documents to you hich you need to sign and send them back. Most of the title companies do have tie ups/branchs in multiple states. The documents will be prepared by the title company chosen by your lender/broker/seller and you can sign the docs and close the deal in their office in NY.
