Not really sure if I'm doing this right. I've just recently closed on a new home and need to file for first time home buyer tax credit. I've have already filed my 2009 income tax. So now, do I just need to submit form 5405 along with form HUD-1. Are these the only paperwork I need to mail out to IRS?

I'm in the same boat, so do you just check the 5405 box in the 1040x form and send all docs to the IRS?

Do you need a tax professional for this or is it just that easy.

You don't need a tax pro. to file this. To evaluate how simple it is, you can always sign up with one of the online tax tools like Turbo or TaxAct.

It takes 5 minutes to fill out the form, put it in an envelope and put a stamp on it. No tax pro required!
