As the title says, there is this guy on the tube that goes by the username: AtlasRider. He was a Software Developer but now he has quit his job and plans to spend all his money going on a adventure to south america on his motorcycle. Not just that, but his funds won't even be enough to get him back to the US so he plans to sell his bike if it comes to that to buy a plane ticket back.

Ballsy...I like it and wouldn't mind doing something like that. Since the economy and job market suck gerbil nuts as it is, best time to do it too!

I just hope he has decent Spanish otherwise the trip may come to an end a lot sooner!

There was a good episode of Locked up abroad about a california guy who did the same and got kidnapped by guerilla soldiers in columbia, red cross paid his ransom and he continued on his trip. If you have on demand with your cable you can probably find the episode on natgeo, otherwise im pretty sure its online as well.

Semi-OT...
Couple of years ago, we were on a small cruise ship that departed Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, heading for Antarctica. A day in that southernmost "city" on the planet wandering around, and up rides a couple on a BMW m'cycle, who had just arrived from Minnesota!

They both looked like they had just ridden over from a hotel down the street; they had left MI in September and arrived at the southernmost tip of South America, aka Fin del Mundo, in early January. They were reticent about their trip other to say they were glad to be there, had had no real problems, and were going to maybe sell their scoot and fly home. I was freakin impressed.
