What is a "beind"? I'm having trouble making sense out of your post. I wouldn't call a 125cc scooter "very speedy", although to a bicyclist I suppose it is. Love the Gilera, although it's almost a motorcycle.

Uhmmm ... When they are *that big*, can you just not say that it is a Motorcycle dressed up for an evening gala ???

In *the old days*, scooters were barely topping out at 65. and were not bigger than 200 cc ?!
In my school days (early 60's), I had Vespa GS. Dang, it even had a spare tire !!
And I filled up for a week for under a buck !!!
At Full throttle it got to 70 mph, but you'd better not be overtaken by a monstrous truck !!

A "bow-street"? I gather from the context that you mean a rough street with potholes which will swallow those small wheels. By the way, no problem with the language difficulties. The only Italian I know are musical terms.

As I recall, 100 kph = 62 mph.

1. Gear-ratio/less TEETH on the rear sprocket , 2. 16-gage wiring harness,(gives MORE POWER and RELIABILITY) . 3. The HOTTEST SPARK PLUG U can find . 4. A Racing carb . 5. The hottest CDI U can find . 6. Proper Air pressure for the Tires . 7 . And a Windshield . 8. PLUS A PERFORMANCE MUFFLER . All of this = an extra 20-45 mph.

I have ridden my Suzuki Burgman 650 scooter over 8,000 miles in the last couple of summers. I have been riding for over 40 years and this is the most effective bike I have ever had. It is quick, stops very well and handles well enough to let me make a 35 mile ride on a NH mountain road in 35 minutes. As I now have the more time to ride I expect to really cover ground this summer.

I would rather ride this step through motorcycle on a long trip then a big "cruiser". Remember the more junk you take the more you have to worry about.

FWIW - I paid $3,500 for a 6 year old machine with 20,000 miles. Since then I have added a taller windshield, a luggage rack and a set of new tires. A new seat is next. I have a complete maintenance at the end of the summer so I can store the scooter with fresh oil over the winter.
