I've only ever experienced getting my gas pumped for me one time, and they messed up. They just started pumping in 87 octane without even asking me what type of fuel I wanted. By the time I checked what fuel they were using i had over half a tank of 87.

This was in my car though that had an aftermarket turbo that needed 93 octane to make sure the engine didn't go boom. I wasn't too happy and won't let any one pump my gas after that. Car or motorcycle. If they say full service, they can at least ask me what gas I want.

The last time I rode in Oregon (2004) I pumped my own gas. I didn't hear anything about it being illegal.

I never had an attendant pump my gas in Jersey on the motorcycle . . .
Whole different story in the car.
My last time, from PA to VT, on the T-pike, an Indian gentleman kept telling me my Wifes Scion required premium.
It almost entered into a yelling situation ---> "no . . . 87" repeatedly

Nj here and always pump my own gas while riding. Typically don't even wait for attendant swipe my card and pump away. I've also pumped my own gas to fill up my car/suv on occasion when the station attendant is busy and I'm in a rush.
