Until recently, I didn't know that there was any place in the U.S. where it was illegal to pump your own gas. I hate pulling into a gas station and SURPRISE it's a full service station. I know I wouldn't want anyone else filling up my bike or even touching it.
How do you feel about this?
If you're from Oregon or New Jersey I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
Wow, you must have a nice bike....it's not like you're loaning it to the guy, he's just putting fuel in it. Passed that, it's not as if you'd have to depart the bike to for him to fuel it, so, if you didn't like the way he was doing something, i'm sure you could get snooty with him.
I used to know guys who felt the same way about their airplanes...which I could understand I guess. But at least we were looking at $100k machines, although some weren't the investment was typically significantly larger than the bike...and they didn't want some kid who was 16 years old on the wing of their bird dropping $5.50 100 octane into the tanks. Typical guys in a $40k machine though, especially "standard" machines, didn't seem to have a big head about it though.
New Jersey attendants always handed me the nozzle so I could fill the bike myself. I was through there LOTS about a decade ago (GF in NYC, me in DC), never had them try to fill the bike.
I don't think it's rude when it's the law, despite how stupid the law is. If you're out at the bar and go hop on some guys bike, you're being a jerk...if the guy needs gas, and you do your job (fuel guys at airports, fuel airplanes...that's their job) then whatever. If the guy wants to fuel his own airplane, no fuel guys ego is going to get in the way of it, he'll let the fuel kid drive the truck over to the plane...then the guy will grab the nozzle himself, and hop up on the wings and start going to town.

You go douse your pilot seat in 93 octane and soak the berries in it for a few hours and let me know how that feels.
Motorcycles generally don't kick off pumps like cars do, and if you're not careful you spray fuel all over the tank, seat and hot engine.
lol! so wait, are you telling me gasoline smelling balls are not an aphrodisiac to women?
I didn't say that, I just said it isn't high on the list of the most comfortable experiences you'll ever have.
