I drive a two door Toyota Tacoma truck I bought new in 98, paid off in 2001. I still like my truck and it runs perfectly, but, I'd love a Toyota Tacoma cab truck someday My only other vehicle is my riding lawn mower

Hubby drives "83 Ford Bronco. Paid $700.00 6 years ago, put a muffler on it and can't kill it ! No payments. I drive "93 Chevy Blazer, bought it used 9 years ago. Great Truck, No payments. We are getting ready to purchase another vehicle. The dilema is.... we both like the older styles of both cars and trucks. So we are looking for something a bit older that won't take much to make spiffy ! Just don't like the styles of alot of new cars, or the price for that matter. We paid $43,000. for our first house. I can't see spending that much on a vehicle. Plus when it comes to repairs, older is simpler, no computers to malfunction.
I do like the Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum and Charger. Prefer a Chevy. I like a big truck, suv, feel safer in them.

Sounds a lot like us! We prefer the looks of the older vehicles also and can't stand the thought of paying more than 25K for a car/truck! We do like the new Chrysler 300 (my Mom had one and it is NIIICE!!), Magnum and Charger (stepdad had one and it is NIIICE also!). We were thinking about getting a Magnum when we move but I don't know. Too much $$!!

We currently have a 2005 Chevy Impala that my hubby drives and a 95 Chevy Suburban (lifted!) that I drive. We love Chevys and would like to stick with them but they seem to be lacking in the new car department. We love love love our burb and will not get rid of it.

We are Chevy people. We just couldn't pass up on the Bronco, for the price and condition. My husband, at the time, was just driving 2 mile to work.
We plan on giving the Bronco to my son as his first vehicle. It has lots of metal, not fiberglass. And it don't go too fast. I feel safer with him in that than a sports car (for many reasons).

I drive a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue that I purchased used in 2002 and paid cash for. My husband drives a 1993 GMC van that was top of the line when it was new, 4 leather captain's chairs & a leather bench that folds down to a bed/tv/"pimp" lights in the back, real wood trim, etc. I paid $2000 for it this spring when he finally blew up his 1985 GMC work van.

I couldn't imagine ever spending more than $10,000 for a car.

Me too Evey. I look at what people spend on cars... $20,000, $25,000, $30,000, $40,000...on up...and I think ... ARE THEY FRICKIN' NUTS??? My Toyota Tacoma cost me just under $13,000 in 1998. It's about the same price now actually. My first Toyota truck was $6500 new in 1985 and was the lead-in advertised in the paper. To advertise that low a price, the car dealership has to actually have that car available or else it's legally considered switch/bait. So I went in and pointed to the advertisement and said.."I want this truck". They tried to steer me to others, but I insisted and drove out in the least expensive new truck on the lot! . I can't imagine paying so much for something that I consider only transportation. I have no interest in luxury cars or expensive features. All I care about is that the auto is dependable, inexpensive to repair and run, and gets good gas mileage. In my own experience, Toyota trucks have been absolutely perfect. I've not had to have anything ever fixed on either truck from 1985 through 2006, only tire updates and oil changes as normal. I look at what people spend on cars, SUV's, (with the extra insurance required and registration fees/personal property taxes) etc. and I think..no wonder they're in debt up to their eyeballs and calling Credit Counselors. I truly don't get it.
