To bad it doesn't have a 1978 price.

Retro is not really retro if it’s not a revival. You can’t revive something that never went away, not fully, anyway.

The rest of the world has had "motorcycles" all along. Only the US was saddled with a choice of faux harleys or race replica crotch rockets. It's nice to see Yamaha bringing this bike here but I fear it won't sell very well, as Americans tend to treat motorcycles as a fashion accessory.

Well, Yamaha's marketing for the SR400 is on the "fashiony" side. I can see it doing well among the hipster crowd, some of whom -- at least here in SF -- are drawn to old 2-strokes, vintage Lambrettas, and the like.

I saw a couple of 650 singles for sale over the weekend for about $5 grand. Looked like great beginner's or nostalgia bikes. They would be a blast on a loose gravel road with proper tires.

2015 Ducati Scrambler First Look Motorcycle Review- Photos- Specs- Pricing

And another "retro" bike, harkening back to the '60's and '70's when scrambler type bikes were common. That includes Ducatii, who imported their own scrambler/enduro bikes.

It's nice to see more of these regular, normal, ridable bikes offered. I'm not really in the market right now as my Tiger is all the bike I seem to need but the rest of you guys need to ignore your girlfriends and wives and buy these bikes!

Beautiful. Dunno if I'd be ready to trade my Moto Guzzi V7 Special on one though.. hmmm. I wonder if people will be put off by the Ducatis built in Thailand and Brazil. All MG are build in Italia.

Mine looks like the red/white one on this:

I owned a SP at one time, loved the sound it made, like a small block chevy on full throttle. Italian bikes are always a good choice!

I made myself a more classic styled bike from a Ducati 900SS, Monster triple clamp, my own quarter fairing I made from fiberglass and a seat from a Buell Ulysses. You could ride it all day long.

The mirrors were actually kind of useless.

If I had an extra $6K burning a hole in my pocket, I'd get one.

I'd pick up a Bonneville if I wanted a hipster bike myself.
