I used to commute to work year round, the lowest temp was mid 20's but normal was 30's to 40's, heated grips and a riding suit, back then traffic was light and the road to work was good but it's not like that anymore so for me to be out riding to work in bad weather and a bad road is just more than I want to do.

I commute year round. Use heated gear, lap apron and handlebar muffs. The only time that I don't ride if Ice or Snow is in the forecast. Overall, your get used to it. Of course I have a scooter and large windscreen that works wonders keeping me warm.
