No, it does nothing of the sort.

It's a one way, ratchet or free-wheel, like device. 100% of the power from the engine gets delivered through the slipper clutch and to the transmission/final drive. Less than 100% is delivered Back to the engine when off throttle.

We can argue all day, and mods will come along and write us up, but knowing both as I do, I think there are similarities, Are they the same? Of course not, but in theory, there are some similarities. I know you know what you are talking about, and I feel I do, so we just have to agree to disagree on this.
Partially, I cannot elaborate in words some of the stuff I am thinking on this. There are ramps and sliders in both of them.

To me, disregarding location of each item, there is a similarity in function between the slipper and CVT, especially modified CVT.
I think of things a little less technically than most MC people do, though.
Can you please explain how a slipper clutch loses power? Or how it's similar to a CVT?

I thought most CVT's use planetary gears whereas a slipper was the same as a regular clutch and only had any effect when the wheel spun faster than the engine.

We don't really need to turn chain-vs-belt discussion into a slipper-vs-CVT debate.

I think the answer to the question why anyone uses chains still is that at least for higher horsepower bikes, the chain is strong enough and the belt is not.

Maybe I should just get one of the those Genuine Buddies and be done with it.
