Anyone else just bored with everything else and want to take a ride on their cycle but don't want to freeze? It's 50 degrees, but the wind chill would just make it freezing. I know I'm a wimp with cold riding.
I missed a couple of decently warm days recently having topped the tank, stabil etc (bike has carbs) and relegating the bike to be in storage. I can never predict when the exact last riding day will be. There will probably be another warm day or two soon and I can take it out one last time I suppose...but not right now when I want to.
Come out to the craphole that is CA, but at least we can ride most of the year.........grew up in Oregon where it rains most of the year and I rode my CB160 to work in the snow with farmer gloves and a cheap K mart jacket.........those were the days......
You're right CA has good weather for bikes if nothing else . Fortunately, tomorrow and the next day is going to be sunny and in the sixties here. That's warm enough to ride even for my cold weather candy butt. It'll probably be the last of the warm days, and I already lubed up the chain and checked tire pressure for tomorrow.
I just missed a 59 degree day, I had to cut more firewood. If it’s sunny, I’ll give it a try. But I ride a dual sport, so I’ll be mostly doing off-road.

If you will spring for an Aerostich suit, you will find riding at 50F to be quite comfortable. The disconnect between the grey, overcast, cool day you see with your eyes and the cold you only feel on your neck and chin a bit is interesting to say the least.
You need really good gloves too, not only warm but with abrasion protection if it comes to that. And boots. Although most any boot with a fairly warm sock is fine at 50F.
I'm riding today, it's 29 F and am comfortable. The key is good gear. I have ridden down to -4 F. Necessity makes it the only choice. I just don't ride if the roads are icy/snowey. I have ridden in snow in the past, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Surprisingly a piece of gear really helps in the cold and that's a Buff neck warmer or similar.....huge difference if you can keep that cold air off the neck........

Yeah, the heated collar was my favorite part of the electric vest.
