I've had my touring Beemer for a little over a year, and my city-riding Honda 750 for two, and plenty of others for many years before. For the last couple of months, I've been eyeing a very nice 2014 Honda CB1100 at a local dealer. I like its looks, the way it rides, but they want too much for it, so in trolling craigslist, I came across a gently used Moto Guzzi naked standard. Whoa! Look at those lines! It's specs are pretty impressive, too, and it's got plenty of good reviews in the moto press. I'm going to go see and ride it tomorrow on a local twisty road. Adiamo!

Don't know what model Guzzi you're looking at but I had a '97 1100 Sporti and loved it. I'm partial to twins as it is and Guzzi's got a good handle on them.
Rode the bike on Ortega Hwy. A little clattery off idle, runs up to speed at a relaxed pace. The riding position is too sporty for me. In pics it looked like a naked standard, but it has Sport in it's name, and that's what it is. Too sporty for me. i passed on it, but going to look at an '83 Honda CB1000 Custom today.

I'll need to ride a newer Griso one of these days, I like the lines. I'm concerned it can't get out of its own way, but then again I'm at a more relaxed pace these days compared to say 20 years ago...
I'm trolling craigslist and came across a 1975 Triumph T-160. Beautiful.
IF you're movin' on from a BMW from several generations newer to a 1970's Triumph to ride as a dependable, "non-sporty" bike …
in comparison to a later model 'guzzi big twin, or even that '83 Honda …
You are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.
Those Triumphs (and it's stablemate 3-cylinder Rockets) are bikes for Sunday rides by enthusiasts of the marque who are satisfied with the few virtues of these bikes, tolerant of their numerous shortcomings. These bikes were a "sporty" ride, too.
Most bikes I've owned have been love at first sight (or ride). Keep riding different stuff; I never had that kind of patience.
I have the distinct impression I'm going to find a good used '17 BMW GS 1200 Rallye and buy it sight unseen. There is little to see I haven't already after riding 3K miles in Africa on dirt and pavement, so maybe that's a cheat.
