The GSF600N is the prettiest one, but the 1200 goes like a bomb. Almost like the uglier sister who is game for a few extra dirty tricks.....
A Bandit was responsible for me getting (a) laid and (b) hospitalised. My first 100mph crash!! Magic. I had plenty bikes since the Bandit, but it has always been the yeardstick. "this is faster than a Bandit" or "this is almost as fast as a Bandit" or "this is almost as powerful" or..... you get the idea.
Have and really like old S-2 350 cc Kawasaki 3-cyl. 2-stroke, KZ 1000 A 1977, and Yamaha FJ 1100 1985. To me each one has it's area where it shines. Objectively the FJ is the most capable bike of the 3.
Other bikes I would like to have - BMW R90S, Kawasaki 650 dual sport (forget the exact designation, but that really popular 650 dual sport they make) Yamaha R1, not certain what year, old Honda 750-4, make mine an early one, Suzuki 750 "water buffalo", again not certain what year. For that matter an H-1 500 or H-2 750 Kawasaki 3-cylinder, probably about 1972 model. If I could find one, an FZ-400 Yamaha, from the late 80's, one of the best-handling bikes of all time, from what I read. How about a V-Max from the late 80's as well...another little known oddball is the old Kawasaki 90cc street bike from the early 70's. These would top out at around 80 if you went up one tooth on the countershaft sprocket (hey the statute of limitations has long since expired...) The collection would not be complete without a Yamaha RD 350 from the early to mid 70's...
If cost were no object I'd like a Vincent Black Shadow.

Hell, I like bikes. I damn near like them all...
I hear you...if money was no object,it soon would be because I'd blow it on bikes and places to store them.
Hahaha....we used to use some like that as pit bikes when they had a "no engines prior to 7AM" rule at the track. Good for 8mph (3mph uphill...woohoo!) and guaranteed to run out of juice mid-afternoon when we were all exhausted...
You forgot to mention the Suz GT500.....I'm partial to 'strokers myself. The likes of Water Buffs are EXTREMELY scarce here. The closest I ever got to that (in terms of owning an insane 70's stroker) was a Yamaha RD 400 AC. Found out the bike was stolen 15 years before I bought it, so I took it in to the Vehicle Theft unit for disposal. I still cry myself to sleep...
My dad recentlly aquired a piece of mechanical porno I would like to have - A BMW R250 Single Cylinder ( About 1940-ish?) with sidecar. This thing had the ORIGINAL tyres fitted (persished, of course) The Old One eventually sourced new rubber from India - 23inch wheels , I think, and the lady now runs again. Total miles on the odo? LESS THAN 3000 - And it still sports the original black paint with hand painted pin stripes, all in near flawless condition. The bike was "discovered" in the former East Germany in a shack. It belonged to the late husband of some ol' bat - he died a few months after buying the bike new, and she never disposed of it. Now the Beemer lives in the beautiful arid climate of Namibia, so it is sure to stay in pristine condition.
PS - Dad sez this thing is "quite powerfull" - I would like to know what the hell he smokes in his pipe!
I'd have to say the mid eighties RZ350's. Those little bikes really went like stink. I was lucky enough to be in high school then working at the local Yamaha dealer after school building new bikes. I got to build the first RZ 350 in Connecticut! Heady stuff for a then 17 year old...!
