Wow the flowering trees are out in Southern Ohio and riding season is here I think. The other day was great and I got my new Silverwing out for it's first longer ride. I rode up to Springfield, OH to Competition Accessories to look for new riding boots. I'm short and just having a hard time trying to get flat footed on this new bike. But each time I ride it, it does get easier. I have ridden several times in a nearby park and just done circles and tight turns getting used to the difference in the weight and balance from my Helix.
I rode about 170 miles and the new boots are nice. But with the seat lowered, the shocks all the way down and high boots I'm still not flat footed. I may just have to wait for the shocks to relax some. But I'm feeling more confident with the bike now.
The bike rode like a dream. It was windy and compared to the Helix it handled the wind great. My last bike I would look down and I had drifted to 45 or 50. With this one I look down and I'm doing 60-63 and have to slow down. Smooth as silk....I love it
It's great to get out for those first rides, isn't it? The Silverwings are really nice-looking and it sounds like you're really enjoying yours. My "spring" ride wasn't too great yesterday. I had to take one of the dual sports to the shop for new tires and inspection. The weather conditions were heavy rain and 30mph wind- talking about a battle to see and stay on the road! I get to pick it up later and the winds are howling even more, but at least it's dry! I look forward to warm, sunny days for lots of riding. (Lucky you to live near Comp. Acc.- I enjoy looking through their mail order catalog).
You are always a few weeks behind us. My dad lives just east of Erie, PA and he said the bulbs are just coming up now. One of the reasons I got this new bike was so I could ride it up to his place. The countryside around there, being wine country, is just beautiful. Plus the Alleghney Forest and Cook forest areas. Can't wait!
Haven't gone out for that first spring ride yet-Haven't gone out for that first ride yet! However, we are anticipating the delivery of our 2 new HD Heritage Softail Classics next Saturday. My fiancee has riding experience. My experience is the MSF class I took last weekend. Needless to say, I'll be spending a lot of time on the parking lot circuit before I hit the open road. But I am excited and looking forward to many years of motorcycle fun.
We've had great riding weather for the last month but my bike is blocked in my garage by a bunch of building supplies from a contractor, doesn't that suck.

That's exactlywhat happened to me several years ago. I was going to get a new roof after a bad hailstorm, and told the contractor to put all the shingles next to the curb. Naturally, he put them in the driveway blocking my bike. I called several times, trying to get him to move them, but he wouldn't return my calls. I got so mad that I finally canceled the job, but there they sat. After three weeks, I had reached my limit, bought a dolly and moved them all to the curb myself. It took me about four hours. Afterwards, I called and left a message stating that they were up for grabs for whoever got there first. The jerk picked them up the next day.
Unfortunately, when I woke up the next day, my back was in such bad shape that I had to CRAWL for the next 48 hours. After five days, I could function again with difficulty. Ever since, my back has been easier to strain. Roaddog, don't let this happen to you!
