If you're still living in mom's house, you're living under mom's rules. I would say drop the notion of getting the bike. If you're on your own, and paying your own bills, do as you damn well please.

I agree to a point. Even though I haven't lived with my mom for 25 years, I still respect her wishes on most things. If she was adamant that she didn't want me to ride a motorcycle, then I would probably still honor her wish.
