I guess I'm dating myself but back in the 1960's my girlfriend wanted to see Sound of Music. I was more into the guy type movies. Cars, shootemups, war, adventurous kind of stuff.
Then she wanted to see Love Story.
I thought I would hate both of those movies.
Forty plus years later I still like those two movies although it's been years since I've seen either one. I'd go watch them again.

I tend to not enjoy juvenile or low brow or potty type humor. So obviously don't go see movies like American Pie.
I watched it on cable and it just struck me as very funny. Sort of made a convert out of me. I've watched American Pie 2 as well. Wish I could afford that Michigan shoreline!

I assumed The Devil Wears Prada would be dreadfully boring. A movie about a bunch of shallow, stuck-up, fashion obsessed, name-dropping twits? No thanks. I'm so glad I gave it a chance, however. It's now one of my all-time favorites! Go, Miranda!

I liked that movie too, even though I wasn't expecting to.

Predator 2 - No Arnold!? What are they thinking!? I like this movie in sort of a good/bad way. The dialog for Danny Glover's character is hilarious. That and I find almost anything with Gary Busey in it funny, whether it's meant to be or not.

The movie did do a good job of going into more detail about the Predator and his origins, so there was some story reasons to like it as well.

The sequels after Scary Movie 2 sucked! They are now working on Scary Movie 5

Remember really not wishing to see SlingBlade, and amazed at how much I enjoyed it.

Legally Blonde (didn't care for part 2)
Final Destination 1, 2 and 3 (first series of movies I actually like)
Bridge to Terrabithia (I did not want to like this movie!)
Miss Congeniality
My Bloody Valentine (it reminded me of the horror movies I used to watch growing up)
Scary Movie (didn't care for any after the first one)
Not Another Teen Movie (loved the reaction to him singing "Janey's Got A Gun")
Uncle Buck
16 Candles (didn't like Molly Ringwald -- she came off as too stuck up -- but liked the movie)
Weird Science
Step Up (didn't see the 2nd one)
Stomp the Yard (thought it would be cheesy)
Deep Blue Sea
Spiderman 2 (I liked the first one, but think sequels can take things too far. I actually liked this sequel. Haven't seen 3 yet).
Wall E
Blades of Glory
Napoleon Dynamite
How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
Failure To Launch
Hitch
Last Holiday

I'm sure there are more, but those are right off the top of my head.
