"From the horrible ideas department comes the news from George Lucas that he's buying "the film rights to dead actors." You know, so he can resurrect them virtually for upcoming movies. Oh, come on, George. Look for actors to start laying out their film rights in their wills to prevent this from happening pretty much ASAP."

George Lucas Wants to Resuscitate Dead Actors Using Computers | NBC Bay Area

Does anyone think this is a good idea?

I don't like it personally but he has the legal right to do so. This is just as offensive as John Wayne selling Coors.

As advanced as digital imaging is, it's just a matter of time when a new full feature film is released starring Humphrey Bogart. This may open a can of worms keeping the lawyers busy as far as compensation to family members.

Zombie attack!!!

Anyone who is rich or famous gets to have their image smeared by following generations. When Lucas dies, I vote we make his CGI clone muck out the stables.

It's tasteless, but since the making of Some Like It Hot, when does anything done in Hollywood need to have taste?

Why spend $20 million on no-talent Julia Roberts when you can get Audrey Hepburn for 1/10th the price?

the music industry has been doing it for ages, using studio cuts to create whole new albums from dead artists. there are already rumors floating around that Nolan will feature Heath Ledger's Joker in the new Batman film via CGI.

I think it could be really cool. I'd pay to see James Stewart and Katherine Hepburn in a Tyler Perry movie.
