Denzel Washington plays a former agent named Robert McCall who is now living a retired and obscure life, working at Home Depot and spending his evenings at a local diner. There he befriends a young girl who is a prostitute in the employ of Russian mafia. He sees her get roughed up one night, and later discovers that she's been beaten so badly that she's in the hospital. He tries to buy her freedom from the Russians, but they laugh at his offer. Robert snaps -- in a coldly methodical way -- and kills all the Russians in the room. The mafia send in one of their main men to find out who killed the mobsters, and before long he's on Robert's tail.
The LW's craving was probably taken care of 6.5 years ago when they posted their comment, but for anyone else searching, The Accountant, with Ben Affleck (give it a chance) is really good. Surprisingly good.

This one is rated low by many but to me, someone took a simple concept and made a decent story out of it.
Another way to seek out action is go after John Woo - IMDb flicks, especially those made in the orient. They may not make much sense, but they are fun to watch.
Both have plenty of action and wonderful photography and you may even find them repeatable watchable even after you know the secrets. Don't, however, bother with the sequel to Crimson Rivers, it was a rather terrible flick.
Finally, there is Killing Time (1998) - IMDb . It's a bit like a John Woo movie, you'll see what I mean if you watch it, but it's lots of fun.
