For foreign language films I prefer subtitles. I never understand why it bothers people so much. I find I forget I am reading them after a couple of minutes. Language is very much part of the context of a story and I find Chekov sounds better in Russian for example and I feel the Russian Actors will understand it better and thus relay it in their performance in a purer form.
Agreed about subtitles. I'd rather hear the actors speak in their own voices, even if I don't understand them, than be distracted by sloppy dubbing.

For the most part this doesn't bother me at all. I like British accents and I don't spend too much time thinking about them not belonging in a certain movie. It's a lot better to hear a Brit speaking in their own voice than hearing them butchering the American accent as so many do.

I have to agree that Maggie Smith should've been NOWHERE NEAR the Ya-Ya movie. I love her as an actress, but even without the bad accent I would've found her unconvincing as a southern woman.

Kevin Costner's accent in Robin Hood was dreadful, there's no denying that, but I actually really like that movie and him in it. I watched it many times when I was a teenager. I had it on VHS.

The one that annoys more me than anyone else is Angelina Jolie and her stupid fake British accent. Of course her lack of acting skills in general is obvious, but add a fake accent and she's truly one of the worst.

I wholeheartedly concur. Though I would say the lack of acting ability is far worse a crime.... I find her range more than limited . But then again compared to Orlando Bloom she is a true acting marvel IMO !

I don't know what you mean, guv'nor. What's all this then? Don't start a row, let's have a go at some birds.

Some actors can "do" other accents but most can't. I'd prefer to just hear their natural voices than (as another poster said) some butchered version of how they THINK it should sound.
