John Ritter was a comedic genius, and he is on the same level as Jack Lemmon, Johnny Carson, and Buster Keaton in his comedic skills. He could also do serious dramatic roles as well. So he was just a superb actor all around. I love Three's Company and I watch it all the time on TVLand. John Ritter is a legend.

I wouldn't hold him to such a high caliber but I did enjoy Three's Company. I remember laughing a lot when I was a kid but never really "got" the jokes. Now that I think about it, they were probably pretty dirty! He's a great physical comedian!

I was actually more impressed with him as a serious actor. Check out Slingblade. He's magnificent in that role, and you'll hardly recognize him.

I agree, I think his "straight" roles showed him as a much better actor.

John was funny. Not one of the best ever, but he was funny. I liked 5 Simple Rules best I think.

Did anyone ever see him in some Lifetime or something like that movie about the family medical leave act? It was about a little girl who was diagnosed with cancer in her leg/foot and she had to amputate. The father (John Ritter) was a car salesman and lost his job b'c he was "performing well" while his daughter was going through cancer. It was pretty good.

Anyone can do drama. But it takes REAL talent to do comedy. Comedic acting is harder. Even greats like Bette Davis said they wish they could do comedy.

John Ritter was a great comedic Actor and he was an original.

John Ritter was funny in the fact, that he over exaduratted the puch line. He tended to copy ChevyChase with his falls, and he played on the crowd. If you ever watch 3's company, watch how he over does the funny parts.
I disagree with the person who said that doing comedy is harder then drama, The jokes are written, and if your an actor at all, you understand the punchline and act with it. John really was a funny guy though and you definitely see it in his movies and shows. His son did a great job in Freddy Vs. Jason.
