I posted this on the BOOK forum and then decided to post it here also. I realize many of you may not read books but if you want to read a really great one ATLAS SHRUGGED is one to add to your list.
"I just read that ATLAS SHRUGGED Part 1 will be hitting the big screen in the Spring of 2011. Ayn Rand is one of my favorite authors. I would advise any of you that have not read Atlas Shugged to do so before you see the movie. It is going to be VERY interesting to see how closely the script of the movie follows the spirit of the book. I haven't been to a movie theater since Saving Pvt. Ryan hit the big screen but I will buy a ticket to Atlas Shrugged part 1.
Oh BTW if you are a slow reader and you want to read it before going to the movie you better start reading now. It is over 1,200 pages long if I remember correctly. John Galt's speech covered over 50 pages by itself."
Rand absolutely loved the way the Fountainhead was done, so she got one movie done her way.
With the current way that Hollywood does movies, I expect a trash along the lines of the way sci-fi is ruined. Still, it should be fun to see John Galt go up against Jar Jar Binks.
There is a Facebook page on it, it's been up and running for a few months. Looks like it will be good, I like what I see of Taylor Schilling as Dagny. The release date? April 15th.
Atlas Shrugged will be released on April 15th, but as in independently produced and distributed movie, is is hard to find a theater to see it. Many like myself are emailing theaters to ask if they are even aware of it's release.
I just heard back that it will open at the Raleigh Grand 16 theater in Raleigh, NC.
The book was written in 1957, and as recent as last week was ranked #4 on Amazon in both the Classics and the Politics sections, and 138th overall. Pretty amazing.

By a strange coincidence I heard this news yesterday---ATL was out of power after the thunderstorm/tornado---and I found a battery operated radio for updates--AM talk radio--it is rare that I listen to this. The libertarian host was beside himself--Atlas Shrugged will open in ATL and Naples.
Certain it will be good and also certain that it may be a while before I see it.
If the Government closes down on Friday--that is going to be bad.
