I haven't read through this whole thread, so I apologize if movies I post have already been mentioned.

Elevators to the Gallows: A self-assured business man murders his employer, the husband of his adulterer, which unintentionally provokes an ill-fated chain of events.

Raise the Red Lantern: Set in the 1920s, the film tells the story of a young woman who becomes one of the concubines of a wealthy man during the warlord era.

The Year My Voice Broke: During the year 1962, a young prepubescent boy in rural Austrailia watches painfully as his best friend and first love, an older girl, blossoms into womanhood and falls for a thuggish rugby player, setting off a chain of events that irreversibly changes the lives of everyone involved.

Samantha: Samantha is a normal woman leading a normal life... until she finds out her parents aren't really her parents. She and her friends go on a search for her biological mom & dad.

The Big Blue: Enzo and Jacques have known each other for a long time. Their friendship started in their childhood days in the Mediterranean. They were not real friends in these days, but there was something they both loved and used to do the whole day long: diving.

One of my all-time favorites that so appalled Roger Ebert, he was practically spitting when he wrote his thumbs-down review!

If you're not easily offended by blood/sex/profanity, appreciate black comedy and satire, love over-the-top characterizations, enjoyed "Pulp Fiction" and other Tarantino films, and agree that Aaron Eckhardt and Thomas Jane are two of the sexiest guys in cinema today, then don't miss this great film from 1998:

THURSDAY: A former L.A. drug dealer has moved to Houston to make a new life for himself as a married architect. Everything falls apart when he is suddenly visited by one of his former cohorts who comes carrying heroin. Discovering the dope, the architect flushes it down the drain. This sets up a series of tough customers seeking the dope including a Rasta hit-man, an ex-lover Dallas who ties him up and rapes him, a criminal called Billy with a penchant for torture, and a rogue cop.

I seem to remember a movie called Midnight Madness from maybe the 80's? They were racing (in cars) for something. Like a scavenger hunt maybe.
