This is different than my *favorite* actor and actress threads.

This one is about the talent. A few of the many actors known for unusual talent I think:

Robert DeNiro

Gary Oldman

Jack Nicholson

Ed Norton

Ben Kingsley

My vote is DeNiro.

I'd put DiCaprio up there too. But as far as some obscure ones, I'll go with Garret Dillahunt, whom I'd like to see more of.

DeNiro had it, but has done a bunch of lame comedies lately, so it's hard to think of him as our "current" best actor.

Jack Nicholson as best actor? It seems like he's just playing himself in all his roles. Does he really act, or just read his lines?

How about Johnny Depp, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ben Kingsly, Sean Penn, and Anthony Hopkins?

Actresses? Streep, Zelwegger, Mirren, Winslet, Blanchett.

Some people whose talent always shines through IMO :

Ben Kingsley
Robert Duvall
Edward Norton
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Aaron Eckhart
Sean Penn
Leonardo de Caprio has really matured into a wonderful actor I think

I used to really like Johnny Depp but in my opinion he has just done way too many rubbish movies now to redeem himself at the moment. His last few choices have been atrocious beyond belief and he seems to have become a Hollywood "w.h.o.r.e".

Well sometimes I am loyal to a fault. I'm not a fair weather fan. "Once a fan, always a fan" is me.

Hopkins deserves to be on the list for sure. Hoffman too.

I used the word 'current' because posters keep dragging up stars from the Cretaceous Period.

I will weigh in on the newcomers...I think Shia Labeouf is going to become a classic if he doesn't blow it. There is something about him that is riveting on the screen.

Hmm I like Johnny Depp-Matthew M. did a great job in the Lincoln Lawyer but he needs to do more of those movies and not cheesy romantic comedies.
I love Deniro but he has "sold out" so to speak...
Personally I like Jeremy Renner-great job in the Hurt Locker and The Town
