Obviously i haven't watched every american movie so i can't know if it that actually is true. But from what i can remember i have not seen an american movie close to every actor has had completely white and regular teeth. Why is it so? Is it sponsored by cosmetic dental industry to make everyone want to have teeth like that? It looks ridiculous when everyone has that.

Those chicklett teeth (that's what we call them here, because the teeth look like white pieces of chicklett gum) are not real-usually veneers or dentures. And photoshopping. It's the aesthetic, unnatural, unattainable perfection that is so valued in American culture. Perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect teeth, perfect body, oh and always look no older than 25. Completely false and fake.

Excellent post and analysis. I never understand what is so wonderful about perfectly fluorescent white, perfectly aligned teeth. I must admit it baffles me.
Not saying I find missing or nicotine stained gnashers that attractive but what is wrong with normal teeth ? I have incredibly strong and healthy teeth, they are not perfectly aligned, creamy not white ( natural shade ) though hardly "bubba teeth" either !) and I still manage a healthy love life... And always have done so. Go figure.
At the end of the day Hollywood has removed all character from its actors and blandness seems to be the name of the game. Our society seems to crave completely un-natural standards of beauty which to me is so unhealthy. No wonder we are so vapid, vaccuous and shallow as a society when we are told how worthless we must be if we do not all conform to the Hollywood "norm".
So many people seem utterly unable to appreciate natural beauty and I find it so pathetic. Hubby always moans that he can't distinguish between all the "generic blondes/and now sadly also brunettees, as he calls them on the rare occasions we see mainstream films. I am glad to be married to someone who prefers women who don't look like Barbie dolls . There seems to be two main looks in Hollywood , the "porn star" or the "wholesome girl next door" ( who is really never like any girl next door I have ever seen....). Anything else is rejected as somehow deficient in one way or another.
Quite a few British actors /actresses have been told to have "work done" to be more marketable abroad and I am glad most resist the temptation.
I suppose with those glow in the dark teeth you never need a torch though...

Google a pic of the actor Steve Buscemi from his first movie role in the miniseries "Lonesome Dove." It just might restore some faith for you in the authenticity of American cinema.

I remember reading an interview of American actress Julia Stiles, and how she walked into her dressing room one day and her manager or whatever had placed a set of those breast inserts that make you look bigger (they're rubber boob things you put in your bra, so ridiculous) on her table, as if a cue like "you need this". She threw them out.

True, but Buscemi is the exception rather than the rule. His "unattractiveness" (for want of a better term) is part of his appeal.

In answer to the OP...perfection is part of the make-believe world.
Because they love corn on the cob. And they'd look pretty funny trying to eat it without any teeth.
