I'm really interested in the 60s and 70s: the pop culture - music etc., the general look (architecture, fashion), and overall vibe, so I often I look out for movies that were set in that era and/or preferably filmed back then even if they were crappy or boring movies. Some of my favourite 'time capsule' films include Midnight Cowboy, The Panic in Needle Park, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Saturday Night Fever, Taxi Driver, Often I just seeing how things looked.etc and feeling nostalgic about an era I never experienced. Is this the case with any of you?

Yes, sometimes I'll get a craving to watch a bunch of old B&W movies made and set in Britain in the 1930s -1950s (eg; Passport to Pimlico), just to get a dose of life back then. I guess it's nostalgia for an era I don't know anything about. Not saying I would've preferred to live back then, I just enjoy watching the attitudes and behaviours Brits exhibited 60 years ago.

I prefer films like the ones you mention simply because they are better than most movies made today.

yup, i completely agree. but i will also say, that there is something of a novelty to look at older films from the 60s, 70s and even 80s to watch just because of the times they were filmed in. I like digging out films that no one's ever heard of, because there just might be something good there. Then you'll be the cool cat who filmed something inspired by something that not very many people know about.

Most of my favourite films were made in the 60s and 70s, but I'm guessing that, in my case, it's unrelated to the decades they were shot in because I'm not such a big fan of them.

On the other hand, I rarely miss any chance to watch movies portraying an ancient civilization (Greeks, Romans, Vikings, Hebrews, Egyptians... ), the Middle Ages, the Victorian era in Britain and the first decade of the 20th C in Britain and in continental Europe, or the "feudal period" in China.

I'm a sucker for anything from the 70s or 80s. I even watch 90s stuff at times, I was in my 20s then, lol.
